I’ve taken my 2001 VW GTI to Everett Street Autoworks several times for a variety of repairs and maintenance, including A/C servicing, sunroof maintenance, axle replacement, serpentine belt replacement, and troubleshooting a “System Too Lean” condition caused by a leaking brake-booster vacuum hose. Every visit has been a professional experience. I’ve been greeted promptly, given a clear estimate for diagnosis, and then received a mid-day call with the diagnostic results and an estimate for the recommended repairs. I especially appreciate the communication and transparency throughout the process. One repair in particular really demonstrated the shop’s approach. I had a failing camshaft sensor that was promptly diagnosed and replaced. Unfortunately, the aftermarket replacement part turned out to be defective and triggered a new DTC. Rather than simply replacing more parts or guessing at the problem, the shop stuck with a disciplined troubleshooting process at no additional diagnostic charge. That likely saved me from unnecessary repairs. They eventually sourced a genuine Bosch G40 sensor, which resolved the problem. Kudos to Abel and the entire team for seeing it through. This is especially refreshing because VW dealers are increasingly reluctant to work on a 2001 vehicle. That’s not an issue at Everett Street Autoworks: they’re willing to work on older VWs and help you keep them on the road. I also really like the detailed invoices, including the services performed and comments from the technician. Their ESAW Safety Inspection is another nice touch. One note: they don’t automatically provide you with a copy of the inspection report, but they will email it to you promptly if you request it. My one significant criticism is parts pricing. For example, I was charged $174.36 for a six-pack of NGK Laser Platinum BKR5EKUP spark plugs. On the same day, NGK’s official website listed the six-pack at $47.09 plus shipping. That works out to roughly a 270% markup over the manufacturer’s listed price. I understand that shops need to make money on parts and that pricing can vary, and this isn’t necessarily representative of every part they sell, but the markup in this case was a pretty serious price shock. It’s worth asking about parts pricing if cost is a concern. Overall, despite the parts-pricing issue, my experience with Everett Street Autoworks has been excellent. The quality of the diagnostics, communication, workmanship, and willingness to properly troubleshoot a problem rather than throw parts at it are all impressive. I would absolutely recommend them, particularly to owners of older VWs who need a shop willing to work on and understand these cars.

I've been going to Everett Street Autoworks for about 20 years for my Hondas, and they're the best! Recently one morning after going to another shop for a special deal on an oil change, they pressured me to authorize them to make a critical repair for an astronomical price. I called Everett Street right away to ask them what they'd charge for the same repair, and Abel quoted me less than half what the other shop did, and said he could do the work the following day once a part was delivered. I dropped my car off a day early, and was surprised and thrilled when Abel called at 2pm to say that my car was all done and ready to go! Incredible service and quick turnaround when I was in a tough spot—this is why Everett Street is my trusted shop for car service and repairs, and I don't want to go anywhere else!

Third time visiting this shop for standard maintenance. They are very helpful, thorough, and friendly. OLDER review: Honest, thorough -- everyone goes above and beyond to make the car-in-the-shop experience as pleasant as possible. The mechanic who worked on my car called around to get the best deal on a battery, and the guy who rung me up when I paid noticed I had a AAA card in my wallet and rang it up again to make sure I got my discount. I'm really happy to have a mechanic I can count on.

I'm so glad I found this shop. I was able to make an appt within a week. The drop off and pick up were very straightforward, and communication with the shop was clear and professional. I was having quite a few things done, albeit smallish things, and never expected it back the same day, so I was very surprised when it was ready well before the day was over. It's super convenient they are right beside a bus stop too! I'm very pleased with my experience and will be returning.
